Budget in governor's hands

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois General Assembly took final action on a new state budget on Friday, but the $59 billion spending plan is expected to run into trouble when it reaches the governor's desk.

Gov. Rod Blagojevich complained that the budget, which passed on a vote of 52-5 in the Senate and 98-8 in the House, was full of "false promises," unbalanced and packed with pork.
