Kroner: IHSA forcing hurlers to go the distance

Look for a greater disparity next spring between the state's elite high school softball pitchers and those who hope to one day reach that status.
The IHSA announced last month it would increase the pitching distance from 40 to 43 feet effective for the 2010 spring season. The National High School Federation mandated the change be made by 2011 but gave individual states the option of implementing it sooner.
